Repeat Prescriptions
Please follow the guidelines and choose the right option for you.
If you have not been prescribed medication before, you will need to contact the surgery to book an appointment with a GP.
Please allow us 5 working days, to process your prescription request. We do not accept repeat prescription requests over the phone.
As the use of weight loss medications prescribed by private providers increases, we’d like to remind all of our patients that these treatments may interact with other medicines. If you are using or considering such medications, please make sure your private prescriber or pharmacist is informed about any current or future prescriptions you may have so that they can provide you appropriate clinical advice.

About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Medication Queries
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer them. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on:
- how your medicine works
- how and when to take it
- possible side effects
- answers to your common questions.
If you have a query (not a medication request) about your prescription, call 01227 469333 after 10.30am and select option 2.
Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
When going abroad you can take your NHS medications with you.
Please visit the NHS website for the latest Prescription Charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
