Flu and Covid vaccines 2024/25

For the 2024/25 flu programme the JCVI have advised moving the start of the programme for most adults to the beginning of October. This change in timing is based on the evidence that the flu vaccine’s effectiveness can wane over time in adults.   Pregnant women are an exception to the advice on a later start date and will be offered the vaccine in September.

Protection from the vaccine lasts much longer in children, therefore the priority is to start vaccinating all children (including those in clinical risk groups) from September as soon as vaccines become available.

  • Those aged 6 months to under 65 years in clinical risk groups
