Flu Vaccinations 2021
This year UMC will be holding appointment ONLY clinics for all flu vaccinations. All eligible patients will be contacted in the coming weeks.
What about the Covid booster?
We have made the decision to deliver our flu vaccines and Covid booster vaccines separately for these reasons:
- We are still awaiting final guidance on how the Covid booster can be delivered. We did not want to wait for this before planning our flu clinics. Also, some patients will be eligible for the flu vaccination before the Covid, and we did not want to delay offering the flu by waiting for the boosters to become available for all.
- Logistically, giving the two different vaccinations at once may prove difficult, particularly if the Pfizer vaccine is used, as there are strict rules controlling its movement and what sites it can be delivered from. However, if anything changes then we hope to be able to offer both vaccines at once, particularly for our care home residents and housebound patients.
As soon as we have more definitive information about the Covid-19 booster programme, we will be in touch with those patients who are eligible
From Monday 15th November UMC will be offering a small number of flu vaccine appointments every day. Please call reception on 01227 469333 to book. We are taking bookings for adults aged 18yrs to 64yrs and for children aged 2/3yrs.
Child flu vaccinations - nasal spray
Eligibility – All 2/3 year olds (on 31st August 2021) and children aged 4 – 17 with underlying conditions such as Asthma or living with an immunocompromised individual.

Additional Information
Adult Clinics: On the day we will be using a one way system, you will come in the main doors, please use the hand gel provided and report to reception. You will be called in to see the nurse and leave (following the directional arrows) by the side door. Please ensure you are on time for your appointment, but not too early, we have to limit the number of patients in the waiting room. We also ask that you wear loose fitting clothing so your upper arm is easily exposed.
All patients and carers are required to wear a face covering on entering the surgery.
